The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday affirmed Senator Dino Melaye as its flagbearer for the Kogi West Senatorial District for the 2019 general election.
The affirmation primaries was conducted at the Prestige Hotels in Kabba, headquarters of the senatorial axis. Melaye’s affirmation came as a result of a twist that led to the disqualification of his strong rival, Hon. Sunday Karimi, current member representing Yagba federal constituency in National Assembly.
Other contenders that were screened by the party screening committee included a former acting governor of the state, Hon. Clarence Olafemi; Hon. Henry Ojuola and Hon. Ganiyu Salaudeen A former commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Tolorunjuwon Faniyi and the member representing Kabba/Bunu/ Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Tajudeen, Yusuf, threw in the towel by stepping down for Melaye.
