This year's Met Gala theme is overtly religious in nature.
And two stars proved to be the most heavenly bodies at the star-studded Catholic-themed bash in New York - and Twitter took notice.

Dominating fans attention on Monday night was none other than the Pope and Jesus Christ - or in this case Rihanna and Jared Leto - at the gala which was themed this year as Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

Fans went wild over RiRi's choice in attire, declaring her their personal Pope. One fan wrote: 'I believe in a God now. Her name is Rihanna. She can have my wig and my life if she so chooses.'

Many simply wrote, 'the Pope has arrived', as images popped up online of her; others wrote of the pop star, 'All hail Rihanna'.
While Leto got the popular vote on Twitter as the 'officially best dressed male at the Met Gala.' With many even declaring, 'Jesus has resurrected and you can’t tell me otherwise.'
What were they thinking?
